4 but less than 6 lb – Class 175
6 but less than 8 lb – Class 125
8 but less than 10 lb – Class 100
10 but less than 12 lb – Class 92.5
12 but less than 15 lb – Class 85
15 but less than 22.5 lb – Class 70

22.5 but less than 30 lb – Class 65
30 or greater – Class 60

Square Foot = 1728
Height x Width x Length
12 x 12 x 12

Formula

Object: To find the pounds per cubic feet for a particular carton to determine the actual class:

Square Foot = 1728 inches
Measure the carton and multiply the H x W x L
Example: 40″ x 24″ x 40″ = 38,400 inches
8 pounds per carton
Divide 38,400 by 1728 = 22.22
8 (weight of carton) divided into 22.22 = 2.78
PCF 2.78 = Class 250
